At Georgetown Health Foundation, we believe a strong community starts with good health. That’s why we are putting both our heads and hearts to work for our Georgetown neighbors.
We use data to identify the biggest health gaps in our community.
At the same time, our hearts lead us to invest in local organizations that provide essential services, from prenatal care to senior support and everything in between. Whether it is transportation to medical appointments, wellness programs, or emergency assistance, we are committed to ensuring that people in Georgetown have access to the care they need.
Georgetown Community Hospital
Our work is rooted in Georgetown’s healthcare history, dating back to the opening of Georgetown Community Hospital in 1924. Today, we continue that legacy by funding nonprofit organizations that provide critical safety net services, from primary healthcare to emergency shelter.
We know health is not just about doctor visits. It is also about the factors that shape well-being, like stable housing, reliable food access, and strong social support. That is why we focus on the broader social determinants of health for our neighbors experiencing challenges to access the resources they need.
As a local, place-based funder, we believe in working side by side with the nonprofits that serve our community.
We listen, learn, and use data to make funding decisions that address Georgetown’s most pressing needs. Through collaboration and smart investments, we are committed to building a healthier, more connected community together.
Mission
Georgetown Health Foundation generates and accelerates positive change in our community’s health.
Mission Philosophy
The Foundation works collaboratively with its community to improve the health of Georgetown residents through partnerships, experience, knowledge, and funding.
Vision
We imagine our community as one in which all are empowered to build and sustain healthy, productive lives and we believe the health of Georgetown residents is influenced by the environment in which they live.
Vision Philosophy
Georgetown Health Foundation agrees with the World Health Organization’s definition of health as ‘a complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of infirmity.
We believe the social determinants of health (SDoH) are powerful influencers on this comprehensive definition of health.
